Obituary

Marilyn E. Bornemann died on Monday June 1, 2015 in Janesville, Wisconsin after a long
illness. She was born Marilyn Elizabeth Ellenberger on February 18th, 1928 in Westfield, N.J.,
the daughter of Frederick A. Ellenberger and Edith Lillian (Brunner) Ellenberger.
As a child, she was the light of her parent's eyes, with a beautiful laugh and big bouncy curls.
She had a remarkable memory and could recall many stories of her early years and of her
parents. Her father Frederick was an extraordinary carpenter and her mother, a very caring
mother and wife. Although we all have sad moments in our lives, Marilyn's absolute saddest was
when her father died. She was a young child when he passed and she mourned his loss her entire
life.

She attended elementary school and began high school in Westfield, NJ. When her mother
remarried Walter Baird the family moved to Franklin, NH where she graduated high school.
After, Marilyn returned to Westfield and lived with her grandmother Ellenberger and attended
the Eastern School for Physician's Aids in New York City.

In 1949 she was invited to a party at Pine Lake Park in Tom's River. There she met Richard
Bornemann, the man she would spend the next 60 years with. They were married on February
12th 1950. Together they built a home on Lakewood Road in Tom's River, next door to
Richards's parents. Four children were born there. In addition to raising them, Marilyn continued
her studies and got her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

The Bornemann family moved and lived in Rockport, MA., Oswego, NY., Port St Lucie, FL.,
and Claremont, NC. Where ever they moved, Marilyn made each house a home. There was
always heartfelt welcome for children, family and friends.

In retirement, Richard and Marilyn enjoyed traveling the country in their Airstream Trailer,
visiting all of their children, attending Airstream rallies and working in Yellowstone National
Park.

Marilyn will be remembered for her adoration of her grandchildren, her skill in the kitchen, and
her endless crafting abilities from knitting to stained glass. Many of her works are still cherished
in family and friends homes. She was the keeper of our family tree and photos and was our
storyteller. She was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution and the Eastern Star.
She also had the remarkable ability to identify nearly any gadget or curious implement in an
antique or thrift store. She could find a treasure wherever she went. She was a pirate. With a
smile on her face, she put up with a lot over the years. She will be remembered as having the
patience of a saint and a heart of gold. She was so very loved and will be missed. Marilyn, please
watch over us.

Marilyn is survived by her Daughter Linda Long (Al Jaques) of Astoria, OR., Her son Fred
Bornemann (Kari) of Port St. Lucie, FL., Her son George Bornemann (Kathryn) of Livingston,
MT., and her son Edward Bornemann (Laura) of Janesville, WI. Her grandchildren are KristalLewis (Kurt), Erik (Jennifer), Joseph, Samuel, Augustus, Sonia and her great grandchildren are
Kurt, Judah, Jonathan, Daniel, Tristan, Peyton and Claire. She is also survived by her Sisters
Judy Webster (David) and Libby Coolidge and beloved best friend for life, Millie Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, and her brothers Robert and
Walter.
